Bhutan is a tiny Buddhist monarchy in the Himalayas between Tibet and India where Bengal tigers roam free and the king would rather have Gross National Happiness than Gross National Product. No, I'm not making this up. A visit in the early 1990s turned into a life long obsession. I've lived in Bhutan on and off since 1997, and I think the people of Bhutan have a lot to teach the rest of the world about how to laugh at ourselves instead of being mad at other people; about how to slow down and enjoy the view; and about how to look for magic, because there is actual magic in the world.
